Join The Players Theatre Company for a special presentation of Annie Jr. as the inaugural production of The Penguin Project at The Players, performing May 22–24, 2026 at the Owen Theatre in Conroe, Texas.
The Penguin Project is a nationally recognized inclusive theatre program that empowers young artists with disabilities to take the stage in a fully staged musical. Each performer, known as an Artist, is paired with a peer Mentor of a similar age who supports them throughout rehearsals and performances. Together they learn lines, songs, choreography, and stage movement while building confidence, creativity, and lasting friendships.
This production of Annie Jr. brings the beloved story of optimism and perseverance to life while celebrating the incredible talents of these young performers. With music, costumes, choreography, and a supportive community behind them, the Artists of The Penguin Project shine in a theatrical experience that is as meaningful as it is entertaining.
More than a musical, this production showcases the power of inclusive theatre and the impact the performing arts can have on communication skills, social connection, and self-confidence. Families, friends, and audiences of all ages are invited to witness a joyful and inspiring performance that highlights the heart of community theatre.
